Setting up Entourage 2008 on the Mac

Since there is not a Sign In Assistant client built for the Mac, you’ll need to setup your email application by hand.  If you use Entourage, then follow these steps.  If you use another type of email software, login to your Microsoft Online Corporate portal at https://home.microsoftonline.com and look in the Help with My Services section for information on setting up your email client.

 

1.       In Entourage, on the Entourage menu, click Account Settings.

2.       In the Accounts window, click New.

3.       In the New Account window, in the Account type list, select Exchange, and then click Setup Assistant.

4.       In the Account Setup Assistant window, select the My account is on an Exchange server check box, and then click Configure Account Manually.

5.       In the Edit Account window, in the E-mail address box, type your corporate email address (e.g.   jsmith@somecompany.com)

6.       In the Account ID box:

a.       In Entourage 2004, type your Security Accounts Manager (SAM) name.
To find your SAM name, see Find Your Security Accounts Manager (SAM) Name.

b.      In Entourage 2008, type the e-mail address you used in step 5.

7.       In the Exchange server box, type the following, substituting your email address in where specified:

https://red001.mail.microsoftonline.com/exchange/<your email address here>

8.       Select the This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.

9.       Click OK.

Setting up Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition

To setup Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition, you must first setup you account in Entourage 2008 as described above.  Then, make sure all of the latest Entourage Updates have been installed by running the Update Wizard.  Once this has been confirmed, reboot your  Mac and then download Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition from the following URL (bottom right corner… select the correct language):

Once the above is downloaded and installed, follow these steps:

 

1.       Launch Entourage

2.       When you get to the Entourage Setup Assistant, select “Import from a previous version of Entourage” and click the next button.

3.       Select Entourage 2008 and click the next button

4.       Leave all the checkboxes checked and click the next button

5.       Select the Identity of your email account and click the next button

6.       Click OK on the popup and accept the change to the Keychain if prompted

7.       Click Finish on the Import Complete screen

 

You’re account should now be imported, but it’s not configured correctly and is probably displaying as “Not Connected”.  To resolve this problem do the following:

 

1.       Select Account Settings from the Entourage menu

2.       Double click on your email account

3.       Go to the Advanced tab and change the Exchange server to be:  https://red001.mail.microsoftonline.com

4.       Click OK, exit out of the account settings and you should be all setup.
